Our leading Outdoor Educators...
With remarkable mapping of the Australian Curriculum against Outdoor and Leadership outcomes, The Scots College's world-leading Outdoor program is achieving 'value add' for its students through its partnership with AC in ways not previously seen in the Australian schooling sector at this stage.
A mutual desire to bridge the dived between schools, universities and the world of work has led to this partnership between AC and Scots college, in order to provided exciting and progressive educational opportunities for both students and staff. Scots College has a long history of valuing experiential learning and outdoor education and its recent focus on reinventing education to be fit for purpose has led them to ensure no student is left behind. AC runs unique outdoor education training and teacher education programs that interact with industry experts and engages with some of Australia's leading VET Educators in the outdoor sector.
This program has particularly partnered with industry representative, business owner and award-winning VET trainer, Nate Welch. For the past 12 years Nate has worked as an outdoor instructor and course co-ordinator for a number of schools across Australia. He has been a guide, trainer and operations manager for a number of businesses in Australia and Africa and he now owns and operates – Wild Journeys, a commercial adventure tourism business based in Tasmania. His practical knowledge and adventure tourism industry experience is underpinned with a strong educational foundation, and a passion for training and preparing people for a career in the outdoors.
These partnerships have led to the development of a program that not only builds student character and leaderships skills, but also awards them with a nationally recognise certificate and prepares the boys to succeed in a world that is constantly being reinvented.

Cessnock Entrepreneurship Network:
Game-changing Community Learning ecology established
After a successful community event late last year, St Philip’s Christian College Cessnock has been hard at work preparing for the launch of its ‘Young Entrepreneurs’ program in January 2021. Despite COVID-19 and the related lockdown, the school has (with its partner, Alphacrucis College) successfully mapped the HSC and alternative pathways for Young Entrepreneurs at the College, and is ready to enrol these future business pioneers in early June.
In order to connect SPCC’s Young Entrepreneurs to the Cessnock community, the school and its tertiary partner, Alphacrucis College, is making entrepreneurship resources freely available to the Cessnock community and its region. The first of these -- the CENetwork’s Podcast monthly series -- was launched on 15 May. SPCC Parents and Cessnock business people can tune in by going to this site: http://www.cfs.ac/cenetwork.html. Trauma Informed and Hope Filled Communities
As this series is being developed, we are in what people are calling an “unprecedented” time. For those who have responsibility for others, their desire to care can rise to almost overwhelming heights. That can be especially so when we believe that care is essential for how we live.
This series is written with the same heart of care – we wish to support those who are looking out for others in their worlds. For those in Christian schools, this will be a focus for the Boards of schools, the Principal and the rest of the Senior Executive, and of course, for all the teachers and support staff as they daily interact with the students and their families. For those in churches and care settings, we are already finding ourselves having to respond with new and updated approaches. Our hope is to aid you being able to maintain your heart of care while being realistic about the strategies and resources at your disposal.
This training series is comprised of four, 1.5 hours courses designed to give leaders, teachers and pastoral care / wellbeing staff further understanding of individual and community wellbeing. The course outlines are below.
Grace and peace,
