NeuroPlasticity and Learning

Neuroplasticity is taken to a whole new level at Halton Hills Christian Community School in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, with their Arrow-Smith (A-R) program for kids with special needs being fully integrated into the mainstream school. The day begins and ends with Responsive Classroom (TM) in their home class alongside the other kids with 2/3rds of their day in the finely calibrated A-S programs tailored for each child. Effectively rewiring their brains for effective learning.

The “mother ship” in downtown Toronto collates all the data being constantly streamed from all the A-R schools, building a not insignificant bank of “proof” of the effectiveness of this amazing program.
Having also seen this life changing program for children (and their families) in operation in Vancouver, what struck me about this Christian school is the natural Christian principles operating in this inclusive setting. The whole school has a Growth Mindset and hence inclusivity and learning in the way that suits you is culturally embedded.

The Principal Marianne Van Goor is an empowering leader who has much to share about organisational change and getting buy-in from Board, Parents and the Community.
